Fee Calculator

Welcome to the Fee Calculator

What is the fee calculator?

The fee calculator is a 'standalone' tool that does not have to be used in conjunction with any other part of the ePlanning.scot service. The fee calculator can assist you in estimating the cost of your planning application.

How does it work?

You will be asked a series of questions from which data is compiled to calculate the total cost of the application ranging from a simple householder development to large scale schemes such as housing schemes or industrial estates. The calculation of the fees is based on (1) the information that you enter, and (2) the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and deemed Applications) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations and Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2017.

Please note that whilst every effort will be taken to ensure that the fee has been calculated correctly, the resulting fee should be treated as an approximation. The determination of whether the fee is correct is solely the responsibility of the relevant planning authority and you may wish to check with your planning authority that the fee is correct before submitting your application.

The contact details for all Scottish planning authorities can be found here

Please note:

1. If you are advised to half a fee then you will need to manually calculate this yourself. The final amount has not been halved.

2a. Fee changes relating to Prior Notification and Prior Approval applications have recently been introduced. Please note that these changes have not yet been implemented in this fee calculator.

2b. Applicants wishing to calculate the fee for these applications, particularly those relating to Digital Communications (under class 67), Peatland Restoration (under class 20A), and Conversion of Existing Agricultural/Forestry Buildings to Residential or Commercial Use (under Class 18B, 18C, 22A or 22B), are advised to contact their planning authority to confirm the correct fee before applying.
